About

J. B. Ellis is a Kentucky outdoorsman and the writer behind Bluegrass Blind. He writes clear, practical guides for new deer and turkey hunters, covering gear, scouting, safety and getting started, always grounded in reputable sources like the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources and hunter education programs.

Bluegrass Blind is about passing hunting on, with a special focus on youth hunters and families heading to the woods together. Through straightforward how-tos and honest gear guides, the goal is to help parents, kids and first-timers hunt safely, ethically and with confidence. No experience or fancy gear needed. Just start where you are and take someone with you.

How I research

Season and regulation info always points back to the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources. Gear guides explain what to look for, based on manufacturer information and reputable sources. I don't claim hands-on testing unless I say so. I don't review firearms or ammunition.
